    How to forward incoming calls using Advanced Divert

    Learn how to forward all incoming calls without missing a beat.

    You can divert incoming calls in three ways. Divert, Advanced Divert and the Scheduled Dial Plan. The dial plan has been covered in another guide, but here we will look at Advanced Divert.

    What's the Difference?

    DivertĀ is when the number permanently forwards calls to an external number, regardless of the account status. Advanced Divert is more like a scaled-down version of the dial plan, but you will not be able to customize options such as the times or days.

    The Advanced Divert option can be found in your voiptalk.org account. Once you have logged in, select your incoming number and from the 'Configuration option' menu select 'Advanced Divert'.

    You will be unable to change the time slots, but the times are approximately;

    Peak: 08:00 - 18:00 Monday to Friday

    Off Peak: 18:00 - 08:00 Monday to Friday

    Weekends: 00:00 - 23:59

    Enter the number you wish to forward calls to in the 'phone number' field, remembering to include the international code, even if it is a UK number. Then click the 'Active' icon.

    Then select when you would like the divert to switch on; always, or only when you are unavailable. You cannot select offline or no answer, but 'Unavailable' should also cover these options.

    If you wish to send calls to voicemail, no number will be required.

    Set correctly, the advanced divert should look like this:

    You will see that the country called and the price of the call will also appear. You may also notice the number routing change. Please be aware of this if you are using a particular routing for IAX/PBX devices.

    To disable the divert, click the Disabled Icon.

    Ensure you click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page to confirm your changes.
